A school resource officer, Fort Mill police and an assistant principal joined the chase for a former Fort Mill High student accused of trespassing on school property.
The SRO was called to one of the buildings at the high school Tuesday morning after someone reported an unknown intruder. He was told the intruder ran out the back door of the building. The officer recognized the suspect as Joshua Keene, 18, a former student.
Keene ran across the parking lot of Riverview Elementary School, which is next to Fort Mill High, and continued running off campus and into the woods behind apartments on Rea Circle.
Several people chased Keene, including the SRO, Fort Mill police officers and an assistant principal on a golf cart.
Keene was stopped by officers who noticed he smelled of alcohol. A breathalyzer test showed he had a blood alcohol content of .10. He was charged with trespassing on school property, disturbing schools and minor in possession of alcohol.
As of Wednesday afternoon, he was still at the York County Detention Center on a $3,075 bond.
