Agents with the York County drug unit arrested a Charlotte man on drug charges in the parking lot of a Fort Mill McDonald’s restaurant during the busy afternoon rush hour Wednesday, police said.
Hugo Alfonso Umana-Ramirez, 35, was charged with possession of cocaine with intent to distribute and trafficking cocaine, said Sgt. Allen Cantey of the York County Multijurisdictional Drug Enforcement Unit.
Umana-Ramirez was combative with arresting officers after he was taken into custody in the parking lot of the busy fast-food restaurant on U.S. 21 just south of Interstate 77, jail records show, prompting charges of assault and battery, resisting arrest and threatening the life of a police officer.
No one in the parking lot or at the restaurant was in any danger during the arrest, Cantey said.
Umana-Ramirez also faces North Carolina charges and is being held at the York County jail pending a bond hearing later Thursday.
