Hell’s gates will open and a fight between good and evil will take place across the stage.
NarroWay Theater and Conference Center’s production of “Lord of Light,” an action-packed portrayal of Jesus’ resurrection, opened last weekend and runs through April 19.
The show is one of the only full-scale Easter productions in the area, said Lora McCoy, theater manager for NarroWay.
“It’s the most comprehensive show you will ever see,” she said. “It’s a show about spiritual warfare.”
Never miss a local story.
“Lord of Light” follows the story of Jesus from crucifixion to resurrection and portrays the journey Jesus takes during the three days in the tomb in which he battles between Heaven and Hell. The battle scene is an intense, visual part of the show in which animals fill the stage and angels and demons fight for their sides, said cast member Carrie Twitty, who has been with NarroWay for 14 years.
“It’s very powerful,” she said.
The show also features animals, including a horse surrounded by fire, and dancers. Twitty’s two daughters are aerialists in the show.
Twitty said the show follows all aspects of Jesus’ resurrection and portrays the scenes leading up to his exit from the tomb.
“The creation scene unfolds before your eyes and you feel like you are truly there for a moment,” she said. “It honors a creator God.”
The show hits on themes such as creationism versus evolution and religious themes while also providing a fun show for everyone, McCoy said.
“It’s good, clean fun,” she said. “It’s a fun, sensational show packed with action.”
The show will feature a meal themed to match the story.
