For Sarah and Leonard Scriven, being in the “I Did It” feature of this month’s issue of Fitness magazine is a celebration of the past and a nod to the future.
“Finding each other, falling in love and embarking on this journey together has transformed our lives individually and as a married couple,” Sarah Scriven said.
The couple, who got married in 2011, realized by April of the following year that they both had put on a significant amount of weight since their wedding.
“(Being) very happily married, we celebrated often with food and drinks,” said Scriven, 30.

With some prompting from concerned family members as well as their annual physical exams, they decided it was time for a change.
“We told ourselves we weren’t going on a diet but were making a lifestyle change,” said Scriven. “We adapted the primal/paleo lifestyle, wrote out a nutrition and exercise plan, cleaned out our pantry, went grocery shopping and haven’t looked back!”
They each lost 85 pounds and are now sharing their story through “Fitness” as a way to inspire others.
The “I Did It” feature highlights weight loss stories where the subjects have been able to maintain their weight loss. After reading their story on their blog, LoveandPrimal.com, an editor from Fitness magazine emailed the Scrivens and asked if they’d like to be featured. Two other women were also included in the segment.
The couple is also reaching out to inspire others by opening Fort Mill’s first indoor cycling studio, PushPointe Indoor Cycle and Fitness, in April.
“We actually met in cycle class, so the exercise has a very special place in our heart,” said Scriven, who lives with her husband in The Reserve neighborhood of Fort Mill.
Besides working as a regional sales manager, she also has worked as a personal trainer and cycle instructor on and off for the past five years. Leonard, 44, a platform development manager, has also been a cycle instructor on and off for more than 10 years.
“We are both extremely passionate about fitness and in our ability to help inspire others,” Sarah Scriven said. “We prayed on it and felt a fitness studio would be our perfect opportunity to do just that.”
The studio will have cycle, Pilates, barre, boot camp classes and more. They will also offer nutritional support.
For every class purchased, PushPointe Indoor Cycle and Fitness will donate to No Kid Hungry, a national organization dedicated to connecting kids in need with nutritious food, while teaching their families how to cook healthy, affordable meals.
“PushPointe Indoor Cycle and Fitness is going to be a game changer for the Fort Mill and surrounding areas,” said Scriven. “The community feel coupled with high energy classes and nutritional support, are going to help change lives for the better and we could not be more excited.”
