Officials: Teen’s actions ‘justified’ in stabbing
An Indian Land teenager will not face criminal charges after deputies say he stabbed his mother’s boyfriend in self-defense when the man allegedly attacked them two months ago.
On Feb. 16, deputies found Jimmie Adams, 47, of 1217 E. Arrow Lake Court on the floor suffering from stab wounds after receiving calls about a domestic disturbance at the home, according to the Lancaster County Sheriff’s Office.
Adams died while paramedics were treating him.
Investigators determined Adams allegedly assaulted his live-in girlfriend, according to a news release.
During the assault, the girlfriend’s teenage son, 17, went to her defense. He also was assaulted, deputies said.
The teenager then armed himself with a knife and stabbed Adams, the release states.
Since the incident, no charges had been filed in the stabbing, which shook neighbors in the typically peaceful Legacy Park subdvision.
After conferring with the Sixth Circuit Solicitor’s Office, deputies said, there was insufficient evidence to file criminal charges.
The deputies closed the case as a “justified homicide,” officials said.

Naked Fort Mill man escorted from Walmart
A Fort Mill man was arrested at the Walmart in Tega Cay on Wednesday night while wearing nothing but a pair of black tennis shoes.
Police were called the store shortly before midnight after store employees reported a man walking around the health and beauty section of the store naked except for his tennis shoes, according to a Tega Cay Police report. When officers arrived they found Kevin Hughes, 36, in the electronics section and escorted him out of the store, the report stated.
Hughes told police the last thing he remembered was going to sleep at someone’s house. When he woke up, he was naked in his truck at the Walmart. He told officers “he thought it would be a good idea to go inside the store and buy some clothes,” the report stated.
Officers found a pair of shorts inside Hughes’ truck for him to wear before arresting him for public disorderly conduct.
