‘Walk for Water’ a lesson
Sunday, April 27, was a special day at Unity Presbyterian Church as we celebrated Youth Sunday where the young people of our church led the entire service and did a superb job.
Many thanks to the speakers, singers and musicians and a special thanks to Joanna Pearson and James Bunge for assisting the youth and for blessing us with their special musical talent.
At 3:30 p.m., many children and their families and a few of us seniors gathered outside on the church grounds where we walked 1/3 of the distance that the average woman in a developing country has to walk to get clean drinking water. On the second lap, we all picked up a gallon of water and carried it back. Even the small children “toughed it out” and proudly made it to the “finish line.”
Unity’s Walk for Water was to bring awareness to the need for clean drinking water and to raise money for our next Living Waters for the World Trip to Honduras to install water filtration systems. Through our participants and sponsors we were able to raise more than $1,200. The Lord blessed us with a beautiful day and generous hearts.
God’s family is truly a circle of caring!
