After long careers in corporate America, Lisa and John Highberger were not happy with their high end jobs.
When Lisa Highberger was asked to transfer from Springfield, Mass., to Rochester, N.Y., she and John knew this was their chance to make a move and follow their dream. They visited a franchise consultant, went through a list of 1,000 opportunities and chose something they both loved – helping people. They decided to open Pro Martial Arts in Indian Land.
Pro Martial Arts offers educational programs in bullying and predator prevention. They want to instill confidence in children and adults by teaching self-defense, character building and knowing when to walk away. They also have a class in kickboxing.
The couple has already started making strong ties to the community by sponsoring a fundraiser for the PTA at Indian Land Elementary School through Spirit Night. They also offer free seminars to groups and churches. They also offer a Birthday Party Bash for up to 15 children.
“If there are no heroes to save you, then be the hero.”
