Gary “Bear” Geissman is the owner of Cruisin Carolina website, which is important to those of you who want to know what car shows or cruise-ins are coming in the area.
Gary’s regular job is as the fleet manager at Stewart-Haas racing in Kannapolis, N.C., – he started the website because of his love of classic cars and the need to provide a service to people looking for a one-stop place to find out where and when car shows and cruise-ins are happening in North and South Carolina.
One important aspect of the website is to know that most of the car show and cruise-in postings on the schedule are submitted by the public. So why not post your show or cruise-in there and let everyone know about it – it’s absolutely free to do so.
Gary started with a magazine that he produced and worked on almost constantly when not at Stewart-Haas. Gary found that the time involved to create a print magazine and sell advertising and all the other things along with it were keeping him up almost 24 hours a day, so he decided to scale back his concept to just a website about three years ago. Gary says he has owned hundreds of classics during the years, but right now he has three: a 1966 Chevelle 300 Deluxe, a 1968 Chevy Impala and a 1963 Chevy Biscayne.
Gary indicated that finding the right person to administer the website and design it the way he wanted has been a real challenge and that the website has recently undergone a re-design. The site is a great source of information, not only about the schedule for shows and cruise-ins, but also the photo gallery of past shows. If you’ve been to a show that Gary or one of his contributors has been to, a photo of your baby might just be on his website, so check it out.
Other features on the website are The Graveyard, where Gary finds an abandoned classic sitting in a field or barn and writes about it. There is also a monthly feature on the car/truck of the month and there’s a Letter From The Editor page in which Gary comments about the happenings in the car world. So let’s consider ourselves lucky to have this valuable format for car show and cruise-in happenings and be sure to save the website to your favorites.
