A Nation Ford Falcons turnover during its last possession resulted in a 42-41 loss to Marvin Ridge last week.
But the Lady Falcons blew out Marvin Ridge to pick up the team’s fifth win.
In the boys’ game, the Falcons rallied through much of the second half to close an 11-point halftime deficit against Marvin Ridge.
Nation Ford tied the game at 33 in the fourth quarter on a shot by Hank Tuipulotu, but Marvin Ridge went on a 4-1 run to open a small but insurmountable gap for the rest of the game.
Never miss a local story.
The Falcons’ Terry Galloway led with 10 points. Elijah Jennings added five points, all in the fourth quarter, but got into foul trouble early.
“Having him not play the most of the first half hurt us,” said Nation Ford head coach Michael Tew.
Nation Ford opened the second half on a 7-2 run and slowed the game down shooting just nine shots. The Falcons were able to hit five of those, closing the gap to 33-31 to end the third quarter. However, the team hit just two of 16 shots in the fourth quarter struggling to keep pace with Marvin Ridge.
“Whatever the reason is, when we play these guys we can’t shoot very well,” Tew said. “We didn’t make the some shots we had been making.”
In the first half, Nation Ford struggled, hitting 6-of-20 shots from the field as Marvin Ridge took an 18-9 lead after the first quarter.
The Falcons continue its nonregion schedule with games at Lancaster this week. The team hosts its first Region III contest Friday against Clover.

Roccia led with 24 points, including four 3-pointers, while Fulton added 22 points, hitting a couple 3-pointers of her own.
Sydney Adams added 11 points in the win for Nation Ford.
“Roccia needed some help and spreading the wealth is what we needed to do,” said Nation Ford coach Tamara Washington.
The Lady Falcons opened the game with a 12-7 first quarter and outscored Marvin Ridge 24-7 in the second quarter.
Nation Ford went on a 14-0 run in the period and Roccia hit three of her 3-pointers, while Fulton scored 11 of her 22 in the quarter.
Marvin Ridge played better in the third quarter, but Nation Ford pulled away with a 22-6 fourth quarter.
