Show ski team tryouts set
TEGA CAY The Carolina Show Ski Team will hold ski team tryouts 6 to 8:30 p.m. Thursday, May 8, and Monday, May 12, at Windjammer Park in Tega Cay.
Water skiers ages 6 and older are encouraged to tryout. Carolina Show Ski Team will provide equipment, or bring your own.

SUP race to benefit Catawba Riverkeeper Foundation
CHARLOTTE The Catawba Riverkeeper Foundation, a nonprofit organization that advocates for the protection or the Catawba River, will be the beneficiary of the “Stand Up for the Catawba” Lake Norman SUP Race Saturday, May 10, at Port City Club in Cornelius, N.C. The standup paddleboard race hosted by My Aloha Paddle & Surf Inc.
Festivities kick off with a meet and greet 6-9 p.m. Friday, May 9, at Port City Club to benefit the Surfrider Foundation. NOCQUA Adventure Gear will host a night paddle 8-9:30 p.m.
The Elite and Recreational races, which are open to the public, begin after the safety meeting at 8 a.m. Saturday, May 10. The Elite race is World Paddleboard Association Region 6 sanctioned. At 11 a.m., the awards ceremony on the beach will begin and be followed by a luau featuring the Island Hula Girls and island music.

In addition to the races, My Aloha is sponsoring a paddleboard raffle. Tickets cost $10 and proceeds go to the Catawba Riverkeeper Foundation.
Safe boating course Saturday
LAKE WYLIE Catawba Sail & Power Squadron will hold the America’s Boating Course from 9:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, May 10, at Lake Wylie Marina.
This one-day class ends with an exam to earn a certificate that qualifies boaters for insurance discount and qualifies 13 to 16 year olds to legally operate a boat or personal watercraft.
Cost of the manual is $35, which can be shared. Lunch can be provided for $5.

The site can be accessed on a smartphone at m.duke-energy.com. The default menu shows an option for Lakes and Recreation.
Duke Energy’s lake information websites – which include recreational water release schedules, lake levels and alerts – attract thousands of hits each month. The number rises steadily when heavy rainfall causes high water conditions at the lakes managed by the company.
In addition to accessing the new mobile-enabled website, boaters can check real-time lake levels and updates at duke-energy.com/lakes/levels.asp, and on Duke Energy’s lake information phone line at 800-829-5253.
Scuba club dives into events

YORK COUNTY The York County Emergency Response Team is seeking volunteers to join the team.
The team does water-related search, rescue and recovery, swift water rescue, low-angle rope rescue and searches for missing people.
