Filing officially opened Aug. 1 for candidates interested in running for school board seats in York County.
Filing for all school board seats will close at noon Friday, Aug. 15.
Clover school board members who have announced their intentions to run for re-election as of Aug. 12 are chairman Mack McCarter Jr., Joe Gordon, seat 1; and Sherri Ciurlik, seat 2.
Jamie Henrickson has filed for seat 5, currently held by Rob Wallace.
In April, a Clover school board redistricting plan was approved by the S.C. General Assembly to prevent the school district from facing a lawsuit. The Clover school board has five districts with residency requirements and two at-large seats. Voting, however, is at-large for all seven seats.
The new plan includes three districts in the Lake Wylie area that extend west toward Clover, one district in the central area that covers most of the town of Clover and one large district in the western part of the school district.
Candidates interested in running for a seat must live in the district in which they plan to run, unless they would like to run for an at-large seat, in which case they can live anywhere in the school district. Filing for the election must be completed at a county election office.
School board elections are nonpartisan.
Election Day is Nov. 4.
