A Rock Hill man accused of choking his girlfriend during an argument and then using a baseball bat to smash a room window threw his cell phone at a police officer, breaking it into three pieces on Friday, police say.
Officers at about 10:50 p.m. were sent to a Cedar Grove Lane home, where they found a suspect in a disturbance lying down in the backyard, according to a Rock Hill police report. The suspect, identified as Blake Andrew McKee, 25, was bleeding from his arm, police said. Police ordered McKee to roll on his stomach. That’s when McKee sat up and hurled his cell phone at one of the officers, hitting the policeman’s waist. The phone shattered into three pieces from the impact, the report states.
McKee complied with police commands to roll onto his stomach a second time, the report states.
Police spoke with McKee’s girlfriend, 19, who told police she and McKee have been living together for a week. During an argument, McKee climbed on top of his girlfriend and began choking her, the report states. When her sister opened the room’s door, McKee got off the victim.
A man who also lives at the home told officers that as he was taking McKee’s belongings outside, McKee grabbed a baseball bat and smashed a window at the back of the house before he broke one window with his fist, the report states. McKee suffered several cuts on his arms and was taken to Piedmont Medical Center for treatment.
McKee was charged with criminal domestic violence and third-degree assault and battery. By Monday afternoon, he was still held at the Rock Hill jail on a $2,000 bond.
