A man was arrested and charged with drug possession after another man was shot in the hand early Saturday morning outside Patti’s Backstage bar and club on South Anderson, according to a Rock Hill police report.
Police were called to Patti’s after a 911 hang up. When the officers arrived, they heard several gunshots, the report stated.
One man, 39, was shot in the hand but was “unsure of the sequence of events leading to his injury.”
In a vehicle next to where the man was, officers saw Desmond Dixon, 22, “making several furtive movements” under the car. They stopped Dixon, and found a black ammunition magazine with five rounds where Dixon had been making that movement. They also found several grams of marijuana and almost $1,800 in cash in Dixon’s wallet. Dixon said the cash was from a recent tax refund.
One witness told police she saw two men arguing inside the bar and saw employees push them outside, which is when she heard gunshots. Two other witnesses also said they heard two gunshots, but didn’t know the identity of the shooter.
Dixon was charged with possession of marijuana with intent to distribute.
On Monday, Rock Hill Police Lt. Brad Redfearn said the investigation into the shooting was still “ongoing and active.”
