A Rock Hill woman with a bloody right hand and leaves in her hair was charged with stabbing her common-law husband after she claimed he punched her and pulled her hair on Monday, according to police.

Police at about 2:10 a.m. were sent to a Bradley Street home, off North Cherry Road, after they were called about a stabbing, according to a Rock Hill police report. When officers arrived, they did not find the victim, 53-year-old Robert Harris, immediately but did find the door to his home open. An officer spotted Jacqualine Nichols, 40, sitting on the couch, while other officers found Harris lying on Bradley Street in a pool of blood with a fresh stab wound to his abdomen. Harris told police Nichols stabbed him, the report states.

Nichols told police that she was asleep inside the house when Harris walked into the bedroom and began punching her in the face several times, before he grabbed her by her hair, the report states. Nichols claims that Harris stopped hitting her and walked outside, but she was unaware of anything else happening once he left.

Police noticed that Nichols had fresh blood on her right hand, leaves in her hair, scratches on her face and a torn shirt, the report states. She also suffered a cut on her left palm, all of which police said are indicators of a recent fight. Police found a bloody knife in the front yard.

Police arrested Nichols, charging her with criminal domestic violence of a high and aggravated nature.
