A Rock Hill mother was arrested on Saturday after police say she “willfully abandoned” her two children when she failed to pick them up from school three months ago.

On Feb. 27, police received a referral from the York County office of the Department of Social Services, which reported the woman didn’t pick up her two sons from school last December, according to a Rock Hill police report. The police report indicates that one boy is 12, but his brother’s age was not immediately available.

A relative told police she was no longer able to financially support the boys, the report states. She also told authorities that their mother, April Brock, never contributed to their care, aside from buying them food with a “small portion” of her food stamps. Before then, the woman had not heard from Brock since Christmas.

Police found Brock, 34, on Saturday and charged her with two counts of unlawful neglect of a child. She is held at the York County Detention Center on a $20,000 bond.
