A Rock Hill man was arrested on weapon and drug charges during a traffic stop where police found a loaded pistol on the passenger seat, according to a report.

Jeffrey Wade Coombs, 23, was driving along Constitution Boulevard near Westerwood Drive Friday afternoon when he was pulled over for speeding, the Rock Hill police report states.

Officers found a fully loaded semi-automatic pistol on the passenger seat next to Coombs, who said he purchased it from a gun show and uses it for protection.

According to the report, a records check of Coombs also found that he did not have a concealed weapons permit, or a valid driver’s license and was wanted in Largo, Fla., for a probation violation, the report states.

A full search of Coombs’ car also revealed a “fake” dictionary with a hollow center containing a locked box. Inside police found a baggie of marijuana and ends of marijuana cigarettes, the report reads.

Coombs was arrested for unlawfully carrying a pistol, marijuana possession, and cited for speeding and having no driver’s license.
