Police have arrested one York man who claims to be the victim of a strongarm robbery that resulted in several foot chases and hundreds of dollars in missing items.
According to a York Police report, David Wayne Dover, 39, was arrested early Thursday morning for public disorderly conduct after he fought with another York man, Antonio Sentell Nichols.
Officers found Dover and Nichols fighting on the ground near Marvin Circle. As officers tried to break up the fight, both men started to flee, causing police to chase them near Galilean Road. Police were able to apprehend Nichols, who complained of chest pains and was taken away by ambulance.
According to Dover, Nichols tried to rob him while he stopped to pick up a friend. Dover told police that Nichols struck him in the head through his open driver’s side door and began demanding money from him.
Never miss a local story.
At one point, Dover told police, Nichols laid baggies of what appeared to be crack cocaine and marijuana on the hood of Dover’s car in an attempt to sell them to him, while also robbing him. Dover claims Nichols took his wallet and cellphone.
The report states that while Dover never saw Nichols with a gun, Nichols had threatened to shoot him. The two men began to struggle, with Nichols ultimately fleeing and Dover chasing after him. During the chase, Nichols allegedly threw a stool at Dover and later struck him with molding that contained nails.
Police recovered the two baggies, the stool and the piece of molding but were unable to talk with Nichols as he was still in the hospital. A search of Nichols’ background found two previous drug convictions.
Dover claims several hundred dollars worth of landscaping equipment was missing from his car. Warrants are being issued for Nichols’ arrest.
