An employee of a Lake Wylie restaurant chased and tackled a homeless man after he ate a $60 meal and had two drinks, then ran out on the tab, according to police.

An employee of a Lake Wylie restaurant chased and tackled a homeless man after he ate a $60 meal and had two drinks then ran out on the tab, according to police.

Joshua Richards, 25, had $81.01 worth of food and alcohol at the Cherry Bar & Grill on Charlotte Highway on May 4, then fled after a credit card was declined, according to a York County Sheriff’s Office report.

A hostess, waitress and other employees ran after him and one of the employees tackled Richards nearby, according to the report, then held Richards until deputies arrived. Richards was intoxicated and yelling and cursing, according to the report, then he admitted he was homeless and ran out on the tab.

Richards was charged with public disorderly conduct and defrauding a restaurant and remains in the York County jail under a $732.50 bond, according to jail records show.
