A North Carolina man will be sentenced to up to 15 years in prison next month after pleading guilty to felony DUI involving death Thursday after a January crash in Fort Mill that killed a 74-year-old Charlotte man.

Anthony Lamar Ogden, 59, of Gaston County, N.C., has been in jail since three months after Alva Terrell died after the crash on U.S. 21. Ogden has two previous DUI convictions from North Carolina, court records show.

Ogden, who claims to have no memory of the incident but acknowledged that he saw a police car dash cam video of the incident aftermath in which he admits drinking, pleaded guilty under what is called an Alford plea. In an Alford plea the defendant pleads accepts punishment and acknowledges that prosecutors have evidence that would likely bring a trial conviction, but does not admit guilt.
