Food was stolen and a television was damaged during a break-in at Epworth United Methodist Church on Briarcliff Drive in Rock Hill.
A police report states that sometime between Saturday afternoon and Sunday afternoon, someone got into the multipurpose building through an unsecured window. The suspect stole $50 worth of food and “left several rooms in disarray.”
The culprit damaged a television beyond repair and left several burnt matches in the hallway, although it didn’t look like anyone had tried to start a fire, the report states.
Someone at the church recovered a shirt at the scene, and told police he has seen a 15-year-old teenager wearing a similar shirt on several occasions. The teen attends youth programs at the church.
The break-in is under investigation.
