Police officers responding to a residential alarm shortly after midnight Monday arrested a Rock Hill woman who allegedly left her child alone while she went to the store to buy cigarettes.

Trenise Conner, 30, was charged with nonviolent unlawful conduct toward a child, according to a Rock Hill Police Department report.

Officers arrived to her home and found the front door open and the house empty. Police were still on the scene when Conner arrived and told officers she had been gone about 20 minutes and left the daughter alone. When the 8-year-old daughter was found nearby at a friend’s house, the child told officers she heard the alarm and was scared, so ran to find safety.
