An argument over paying for diapers escalated into violence Monday night at a Rock Hill home, police say.
The two victims told police Maleka Hayes, 23, of Blacksburg came over to their house on Crawford Road and started “some mess.” Hayes asked one of the victims, her baby’s father, for money for diapers and he refused, according to a Rock Hill police report.
Hayes then “flipped out” and took out a knife. She stabbed her baby’s father in the upper left shoulder and left bicep, and then stabbed the man’s aunt in the hand, the report states. She then left the house.
Later, Hayes went to the Rock Hill Law Center and told officers that the man was attacking her and she tried to get away, according to the report. She said she wasn’t at the house to start trouble and was next door talking to someone when her baby’s father saw her and they began arguing over child support.
Hayes said she never had a knife but said “family members came out of the residence with knives and that’s possibly how (the man) got stabbed.”
Hayes was arrested and charged with criminal domestic violence of a high and aggravated nature and assault and battery.
The man and woman were treated at a hospital for their injuries.
