A Rock Hill man who tried to keep his brother from disturbing his neighbors wound up getting bitten, cut and bashed with a lamp during a drunken brawl last week, according to a police report.
Police arrested Douglas Smarr, 50, of Rock Hill, on Tuesday and charged him with attempted murder and damage to property.
When officers went to the brother’s home on Stadium Street, they found him “blood soaked” and “bleeding from the head,” the report states. He also showed them bite marks on his stomach and hand.
Smarr’s brother, 58, told police he and Smarr started fighting Thursday when he tried to stop Smarr from bothering his neighbors. The brother told police that Smarr “used anything that he could get his hands on” – including a steak knife and a lamp – to attack him, the report states.
Both brothers “were intoxicated,” the report states.
Smarr’s brother forced Smarr out of his house and called police, the report states. The brother was treated for “minor injuries.”
Douglas Smarr turned himself in to police on Tuesday. He was denied bond and is being held at the Rock Hill jail.
