A Rock Hill man accused of stealing gas from his cousin’s truck to put into a stolen vehicle was arrested this weekend.
On Aug. 22, a 31-year-old woman told Rock Hill Police that she witnessed her cousin, Raymond Bernard Murray, 45, stealing gasoline from her gray Dodge Ram 1500 pickup truck parked on Brice Street, according to a Rock Hill police report.
The victim was sleeping in the pickup when the incident occurred and could not catch Murray as he fled, she told police. She did not know how much gasoline Murray had taken, the report states.
Earlier that day, a woman reported to police that Murray allegedly tried stealing her blue Buick Rendezvous.
Police found the Buick abandoned on Simrill Street with an empty gas can nearby.
On Sunday evening, police were investigating a burglary in the area and observed Murray and another subject on the porch of a Rich Street house.
After completing a check on the subjects, police found that Murray was wanted, so they arrested him.
Murray was charged with breaking and entering and given a $4,500 bond. He is currently held at the Rock Hill jail.
