A Rock Hill man was arrested Wednesday for his alleged involvement in a debit card theft this summer, police say.
In July, Steven McClinton, 20, allegedly stole a 62-year-old woman’s Bank of America debit card and gave it to Vanessa Matthews, 25, according to a Rock Hill Police report.
Matthews then withdrew $1,100 from the victim’s account, the report states. McClinton, as well as Jazzman Vasquez, 24, were named by the police as people connected to the incident.
Matthews was arrested in June and charged with seven counts of federal chartered financial institution crime, three counts of forgery and three counts of criminal conspiracy. Police believe she befriended people only to steal their debit and credit cards later.
Vasquez was arrested in November for two charges of federal chartered financial institution crime for her role in the incident.
McClinton turned himself in Wednesday morning for the petty larceny and credit card fraud charges against him. He is held at the Rock Hill Jail on a $10,000 bond.
