A Rock Hill High School student was charged with assault after hitting a classmate, a York County sheriff’s report states.
York County deputies responded to the school around 12:35 p.m. May 11 in reference to an argument in which a student punched another in the face, the report says.
A video posted to social media showed that the student and the suspect argued while other students watched, the report states. The video showed the suspect walk up to the other student and hit him, the report says.
According to the report, the student who was hit did not retaliate.
The suspect told police the student had been harassing him for several months, but that he had not reported it, police say.
The victim was 17; the age of the suspect was not listed on the report.
The suspect was petitioned to family court and released to his mother, the report states. The Rock Hill school district took disciplinary action, police say.
