A woman who told police she was robbed outside the Wal-Mart on East Liberty Street in York has been charged with filing a false police report, according to the York Police Department.
The woman told police that on June 4, she was about to go into work when a man asked her for a cigarette, according to the report.
The woman told police she reached into her car to give the suspect a cigarette and when she turned around, he hit her in the face with his fist, the report states.
The woman told police the suspect slammed her into her car and said he had a knife, the report says.

The woman told police the suspect took $100 in cash from her pocket before hitting her again and throwing her to the ground, the report states.
The woman admitted to police she had made the incident up, according to the York Police Department. No assault occurred.
The woman filed the false report to bring attention to herself and now plans to seek help, according to the police department.
