  • Teen, 17, who was arrested after Rock Hill stop the violence vigil appears in court

Zacharia Olajawon Ashley, 17, was arrested Wednesday night after a stop the violence vigil that followed the shooting death of another 17-year-old Rock Hill youth. Ashley is accused of shouting obscenities at Rock Hill police, then fleeing on foot before being caught, police said. He appeared for a bond hearing Thursday before Judge Kesha Simpkins after police found that he was wanted on other charges of burglary and felony assault. Those charges were in connection with a Wednesday evening incident shortly before the vigil where Ashley is accused of using a knife to threaten a woman, according to police and court testimony.
