Winthrop University trustees say they will hold a special board meeting on Friday to discuss the employment contract of President Jamie Comstock Williamson.
The board announced the meeting on Wednesday afternoon. Friday’s noon meeting of the full Board of Trustees was not originally scheduled for this year.
The next regularly scheduled board meeting is June 26, where trustees are expected to discuss Winthrop’s tuition for the next academic year and some amendments to the board’s bylaws.
Williamson was named Winthrop’s 10th president last February. Her one-year anniversary on the job is July 1.
Winthrop celebrated the inauguration of its newest president at the end of March with a week-long tribute to the school’s history, Williamson’s leadership and the university’s academic traditions.
The board plans to meet behind closed doors on Friday to discuss Williamson’s contract. An opportunity for public comment before the executive session is scheduled for noon in the Gold Room of the DiGiorgio Campus Center.
