After several days of open filing, a few incumbents and some new faces have filed to run for school board seats in several of the six school districts in York, Chester and Lancaster counties. At least three seats are up for election in each district.
Filing closes at noon on Aug. 15.
Several school board members who have yet to file have announced their intentions to run, including Rock Hill school board chairman Jim Vining, Ginny Moe, who serves in Rock Hill’s District 2, and Jane Sharp, who serves in Rock Hill's District 4.
Candidates interested in running for a seat must live in the election district in which they plan to run, unless they would like to run for an at-large seat, in which case they can live anywhere in the school district. Filing for the election must be completed at a county elections office.
School board elections are non-partisan.
Election Day is Nov. 4.
