The York school district is looking to fill a vacant seat on its school board.
Melissa Patterson recently resigned because she moved out of the Seat 5 district.
Under district policy, the school board will decide who will fill the remaining two years of Patterson’s term, which expires in November 2016.
People who live in the the Seat 5 area and are interested in serving on the board are encouraged to fill out an application and submit a cover letter describing the contributions they can bring to the board.
Board Chair Betty Johnson said the most important quality in candidates is “a love for all children.”
“If you don’t have a love for children in your heart, there’s no purpose,” she said. “We’re looking for someone who wants to see every child succeed – someone who wants to give every child the information and resources they need to become outstanding citizens.”
Applications, which are available by emailing firstname.lastname@example.org, will be accepted until 4:30 p.m. on Sept. 2.
