Clinton to make her pitch to S.C. women

A chance to elect the nation’s first female commander in chief could motivate women nationwide to vote for Democratic presidential hopeful Hillary Clinton – pushing the former first lady, secretary of state and U.S. senator to a historic win. But Clinton should not count on S.C. women voting for her just because she is a woman, political observers and Columbia-area women say.

G-7 nations agree to more sanctions on Russia

In a joint statement released Friday night by the White House, the G-7 nations said they will act urgently to intensify “targeted sanctions.” The statement said the G-7 will also continue to prepare broader sanctions on key Russian economic sectors if Moscow takes more aggressive action.
