Westminster Catawba 37, Hickory Grove 0

The Westminster Catawba Indians advanced to the second round in the MAC playoffs Friday with a 37-0 win over the Hickory Grove Lions.

Brodrique Moore ran for two scores and passed for another. The Indians' defense, led by Jacob Myers' three sacks, held the Lions to 139 total yards.

Moore's runs of 3 and 1 yards made it 13-0 Westminster Catawba after the first quarter. Moore then took the snap in what WCCS calls the ìCrazy Indian,î rolled out to the right, and found Brad Adams wide open for a 72-yard touchdown pass just before the half.

Cameron Adkins had a 19-yard touchdown run and Josh Parker added a 10-yard run in the second half for Westminster Catawba. Wil Pickel added a 31-yard field goal for the Indians.

Westminster Catawba, led by Myers, held Hickory Grove to 3 yards passing. The special teams also blocked two punts.

Josh Lewis led Hickory Grove with 20 carries for 101 yards.

ìIt was an unbelievable win. The team worked so hard all week during practice,î Indians coach Ben McGarrity said. ìWe have the desire to be champions.î

Westminster Catawba travels to Harrells for its second-round game.
