Thanks to Echols for his apology
I would like to thank Mayor Doug Echols from the bottom of my heart for the words he spoke to Rep. John Lewis. I thank Mr. Echols for his heartfelt apology to him for the racism that existed at one time in Rock Hill. Thanks for representing those of us who are ashamed and embarrassed at the inequalities that African-Americans have endured here in Rock Hill and all over our country.
I'm glad the mayor apologized and hope that his apology will be accepted by Mr. Lewis and all those who have suffered like him that he represents. I hope that we all can remember, forgive and never commit such atrocities against our fellow people again -- no matter what the color their skin or their origin.
Never miss a local story.
People still show kindness
I would like to tell you of a experience I had on Jan 5. at the Mayflower Restaurant. My wife and I had dinner there. My wife can no longer feed herself or walk. I have to pick her up to put her in and out of car and wheelchair.
Prior to this illness, we always went out to dinner at least once a week, and I will continue as long as I can. When we got to the checkout, someone had paid for our dinner. We have no idea who it was, and I want to thank them for their kindness. We understand that people still care.

Recent art fair was a success
We want to thank you for your help in bringing our Art Fair to the attention of the people in this area.
Our goal was to continue the arts tradition in western York County, emulating the Yellowbarn sale and our own, also emphasizing high-quality artwork.
We were very pleased with the good crowd and sales. Many of the artists were pleased and hope to come again. There will be some changes; we are still looking for artists and continue to face some challenges.
A lot of work has been done, but there is much more to do for the coming year. We continue to ask for help, locating artists and promoting and advertising the Art Fair.
We also want to express a special thanks to all our local sponsors. There were so many good comments from many people.
Again, we want to express our thanks to everyone who made the Myersart and Friends Art Fair in Hickory Grove a successful event.
