Let's bail out the people first
Let's first secure the base of this economy -- the people -- and make part of the "fix" a two-year freeze of all foreclosures, free credit counseling and revaluation of all properties purchased within the pass five to eight years. The economy will continue to falter if we don't help homeowners first. Please do not pass this bailout bill; go back to the table get all the facts, and let's really fix both Wall Street and Main Street.
Mrs. Enid Dennis
Who wants a flat license plate?
Maybe it's just me, but I don't like the knew "flat" license plates. I found out any new issued plate will be flat. I was going to try to get past the orange and the misplaced crescent, but no embossing? I thought I would give the new plate a chance to grow on me (before I knew it wouldn't be embossed) and if I didn't like it, I could order a custom plate.
Have you seen the new custom plates without the embossing? I don't want one of those either. In fact, I don't want a flat plate -- period.
Two things to do before election
With our country's current state of affairs, it may appear the individual is completely at the mercy of powers beyond his control. We citizens therefore need to ask two questions: How did these social, political, military and economic disasters come into being, and what power do I have as a citizen to make a positive impact on our collective future?
The answers are straightforward: Vote and pray.
When leadership responsibility is given to a government or to business management, the expectation is that those in the leadership positions will have the foresight to realize impending dangers and the wisdom to steer a course which secures the well being of those to whom they are responsible. Clearly, both our government and our business leadership have failed terribly in their responsibilities to the American citizen.
The upcoming election places a heavy responsibility on all our shoulders to vote. Not simply to vote, but it is imperative for us to be informed on the issues and positions so that our votes bring about the kind of leadership this country deserves. Realizing the enormous complexity of our country and our world, factors do come to bear that are beyond the control of a government even such as ours. For that reason we need to pray. Pray for divine guidance that we may be used as the instruments which affect the changes to benefit not only the American people but also our global community.
God help us!

Honesty needed from our leaders
The experts seem agreed that the present financial crisis is, above all, due to that monster, greed.
This brings painfully to mind the words of Marx, who said that capitalism would eventually destroy itself by greed. It should be remembered, however, that the same characteristic has already completed the process with communism.
One can only hope that more honest individuals will bring us through this.
