Obama hasn't accomplished much
Juvenia White wrote in her recent letter that President Barack Obama can boast of real accomplishments but she neglected to point them out. As far as I can see, everything he inflicts on the citizens are a disaster or an impending disaster. “Cash for Clunkers” was a massive scam, costing each taxpayer $2,400. He not only ruined General Motors and the banking industry, he also is now trying to destroy the insurance companies enabling him to ruin our health care system.
His czars are out to set salaries for “private businessmen,” to restrict radio, TV and the Internet. So much for freedom of speech. But as you may have noticed he doesn't have much respect for our Constitution.
He is holding up sending more needed troops to Afghanistan ignoring pleas from our military commanders while our young men are being slaughtered. I don't see an awful lot of things for Obama to boast about, maybe that is why Ms. White didn't list them. It's possible that it is time for you to sit down and rethink this administrations goals!

Check details on billing policy
On Tuesday, Oct. 27, a dreary, rainy day, I checked my bank account only to find the city of Rock Hill had drafted my utility bill two days early. The due date was Oct. 29, 2009; the draft was made Oct. 27, 2009.
I called the city to enquire about this but to no avail. I drove down to City Hall. Checking at the desk, I was directed to a consultation room. They could not help me, so another directed me to billing. A lovely woman informed me that “date due” really meant the city could draft my account 13 days from the date of bill on top of the page. This would put date due to Oct. 26, not Oct. 29.
Most people, including seniors, don't usually have $100-plus lolling around their checking account waiting for the city monster to gobble it up early. Date due means “specific date payment is due.”
To make life more simple, I opted out of the draft. I'll pay the bill myself.

Intersection still needs improvement
I must say that Michelle Young's letter about the S.C. 901 intersection was 100 percent correct. This area can be confusing.
It's worse when it's raining, as she stated. On my last three trips to and from Rock Hill, the cars in front of me used the wrong lane and nearly caused an accident at this intersection.
