Police have charged a 27-year-old Columbia man with murder in connection with the shooting death of another man.

According to the Richland County sheriff's department media phone line, Julius Marvin Jacobs was arrested Saturday night at a Columbia hotel. He is charged in the death of 30-year-old Darrick Darby of Cameron.

Richland County Coroner Gary Watts says Darby died Friday night from multiple gunshot wounds.

Jacobs was being held at the Richland County jail. Jail records do not indicate whether he has an attorney.
