FORT MILL -- After seeing their seven-game win streak come to an abrupt halt Saturday, the Charlotte Knights bounced back to defeat Richmond 3-2 Sunday as the teams head into the All-Star break.
Richmond struck first on a Brand Jones single to center field that brought home Carl Loadenthal in the first inning, giving the Braves an early 1-0 lead.
Trailing 2-0 in the fifth, the Knights got on the board with a Josh Fields double to score Nick Blasi. Following Fields' lead, Danny Richar singled to bring Fields home, tying the game.
Knights shortstop Fernando Cortez broke the tie in the eighth inning with an RBI single to center that scored Javier Castillo, making it 3-2.
Ehren Wassermann (1-0) picked up the win for the Knights.
After the All-Star break, the Knights begin an eight-game road trip to Louisville and Indianapolis. The Knights return home on July 25 for a 10-game homestand.
