INDIANAPOLIS -- Charlotte got a solid five innings from starting pitcher Wes Whisler, but couldn't get its bats going as the Knights fell to the Indianapolis Indians on Wednesday, 3-1.

Whisler allowed just one run on five hits and three walks, but did not factor in the decision.

Down 1-0 in the third, the Knights evened the score on Danny Richar's RBI single to score Nicholas Blasi.

The Indians went ahead for good in the sixth inning, plating a pair of runs on an RBI double off the bat of Brian Bixler and a bases-loaded walk to Andrew McCutchen.

Adam Russell (3-1) picked up his first loss of the season for the Knights, as he was tagged for two runs in two innings of work.

Corey Hamman evened his record at 1-1, allowing just one run on four hits and four walks in 6 1-3 innings. Evan Meek earned his first save with 2 2-3 innings of one-hit relief.

The Knights and Indians conclude the four-game set today with a 7 p.m. contest.
