Tens of thousands of families have had their vacations on the beaches of Hatteras or Ocracoke islands canceled by the blackout. Now they are fighting with real estate, insurance and credit card companies to get their money back.
The annual Lights on the Lake Holiday Boat Parade lit up the night sky and water in Lake Wylie as boats large and small docked at T-Bones restaurant near the Buster Boyd Bridge Saturday night. Hundreds of people gathered at the boat launch and dock to gaze at the illuminated boats. Many of the boats had themes, including a pirate ship, the Griswold's boat house, a giant dancing Santa and an oversized snowman, among others.
