Winthrop’s Kevin Cook relatively tremor-free after brain surgery, optimistic moving forward

Winthrop women’s basketball coach Kevin Cook is enjoying a new lease on life after a successful deep brain stimulation surgery greatly reduced his Parkinson’s Disease-induced tremors. Cook labored through the last few seasons, dealing with the many repercussions of his disease. But his life is much better now and he’s optimistic heading into the 2015 season, and beyond.

Hammer time for Winthrop’s Cooper at NCAA championships

Winthrop’s Marthaline Cooper became just the seventh Eagle track and field athlete to qualify for the NCAA championship when she finished third in the hammer throw at the NCAA Regional in late May, and became just the first sophomore. She’ll compete in Eugene, Oregon this week with a clear mind, one of the qualities that’s gotten her this far.
