Winthrop falls to Charleston Southern, 10-2

Charleston, SC- The Winthrop baseball team’s offense struggled to get hits and fell for the second straight day to Charleston Southern 10-2 Saturday night. The Eagles are now 22-29 and 12-11 in conference matchups while CSU improves to 28-21 and 10-12 in its Big South games.
Zach Sightler took the loss for the Eagles, giving up three runs on three hits while his counterpart Andrew Tomasovich earned his sixth win giving up just one run in eight innings.
T.J. Olesczuk slammed his first home run of the season and Cody Dolan scored on an RBI single by John Menken for Winthrop’s only runs of the game. Dolan was hit by a pitch, advanced on a wild pitch to second and then advanced to third on a groundout by Olesczuk.
The Buccaneers had an explosive eight run first inning and tack on two more runs in the fifth and seventh innings.
Winthrop will try to get one back before leaving Charleston with game time set for Sunday afternoon at 2:00 p.m.
