Except for one game, the playoffs in the three lower classifications have been finalized. That game, in Class AAA, does not affect any of the Herald-area teams.
Four locals made the postseason, which begins Friday night.
Chester (8-2), champion of Region 3-AAA, is home against Seneca (5-5) in the opening round of the Class AAA playoffs.
Lewisville (7-3), champion of Region 3-A, is home for a rematch against the Chesterfield Rams (7-3) in the Class A Division I playoffs. Lewisville won when they met in the region, 14-12, on Sept. 28.
Great Falls (9-1), second in Region 3-A, is home against Dixie (3-7) in the Class A Division II playoffs.
Westminster Catawba (4-5) also made the postseason and plays on the road Friday night. The Indians were notified last week that if they won their final game against Hickory Grove -- a 22-8 victory -- a playoff berth awaited them.
The opponent will be announced today.
The season ended for two teams last week. Nation Ford bowed out at 3-8 after a 53-7 loss to Keenan on Thursday.
Indian Land also finished up, winning its first game of the season with a 27-13 win over North Central.
Class AAAA has one more week of regular season remaining for local teams in Region 3-AAAA and it's a good one, with four very good games.
In rivalry matchups, Northwestern hosts Rock Hill and Clover hosts York. Expect overflow crowds.
Fort Mill goes to Lancaster and South Pointe travels to Dorman for a non-region game.
