Kelia Shelton and Amber Stewart combined to score 45 points as Northwestern cruised past Ridge View 60-42 to advance to the second round of the Class AAAA playoffs.
"Wow," Northwestern coach John Bramlett said. "They're playing the best basketball of anyone on our team. They work well with each other. They know where each other is on the court."
It's no surprise Shelton turned in a game-high 28 points, but it's the late-season push by Stewart that could propel the Trojans deep into the playoffs.
The Trojans will play top-seed Greenwood, a winner over Hillcrest, on Friday night.
Never miss a local story.
Northwestern (18-6) took advantage and led 14-5 after the first quarter. Kelia Shelton scored 10 of her game-high 28 points in the first.
Ridge View was late arriving in Rock Hill, and the Blazers were forced to tip the game off less than 10 minutes after arriving.
The Blazers were a bit out of it in the early going but settled down in the second quarter.
"You could see what they can do once they warmed up," said Bramlett. "They're a very athletic team, very well coached."
The Blazers closed to within three on a Sherell Cooper 3 with 2:08 left in the second, Northwestern led 19-16.
The Trojans then closed the half on a 6-0 run for a 25-16 lead at the half.
Back-to-back buckets by Maya Adams to open the third drew the Blazers to within 5 at 25-20, the closest they would get the rest of the way.
The Trojans opened the fourth on an 11-2 run and the game was never in doubt down the stretch.
Ridge View finishes the season 13-7.
