Courtwright’s no-hitter paces Blue Eagles

Clover’s Barrett Courtwright threw a no-hitter Friday night, striking out nine batters in the Blue Eagles’ 10-0 baseball win over South Pointe. Courtwright struck out nine batters for Darrell Van Dyke’s club, while Chase Galant’s three hits led them offensively.

The Blue Eagles take on Northwestern next Tuesday.

Fort Mill 7, York 0: The Fort Mill Yellow Jackets scored three runs in the first three innings and went on to the defeat the Cougars in a Region 3-AAAA contest at Fort Mill.

Indian Land 3, Cheraw 1: Chris Cantrell threw a two-hit, complete game to help the Warriors past region foe Cheraw. Cantrell struck out 12 batters and also led Indian Land with two hits.

Leading hitters: Indian Land – Chris Cantrell 2 hits, Chuck Webb 1 H, RBI, Jake Dyer 1 H, RBI, James Porchelly 1 H, RBI, and Derian Gueldner 1H. Cheraw – Robert Pitts and Tallon Campbel 1 H each.

Boys’ soccer

Northwestern 6, Lancaster 0: The Trojans got goals from five different players and defeated the Bruins in a Region 3-AAAA match at Lancaster.

Erwin Salazar scored two of the Trojans goals. Both were unassisted and gave Northwestern a 3-0 lead.

Alan Taylerson got the scoring parade started with an assist from Conner Moore.

Julian Welborn, Charlie Robles, and J.D. Collins got the final three goals for Northwestern. Salazar was credited with an assist on Welborn’s goal.

The Trojans dominated the game, out-shooting the Bruins 25-2.


Lewisville 10, McBee 5: The Lions pounded out 13 hits and defeated the McBee Panthers in a Region 3-A contest in Richburg.

Madison Vinson picked up the win for the Lions. Brooke Love led Lewisville with three hits and 2 RBIs.
