The Northwestern Trojans opened the Upper State Class AAAA boys’ soccer playoffs with a 3-2 win over Riverside Tuesday night at Northwestern.
The win sends Northwestern against the Irmo Yellow Jackets at 7 p.m. Thursday at Irmo.
Indian Land 5, Calhoun County 2: The Warriors opened the Class AA playoffs with a win over Calhoun County.
Indian Land will host the winner of the game between Mid-Carolina and Landrum at 6 p.m. Thursday.

Lewisville 3, Dixie 1: The Lions scored two runs in the top of the seventh and defeated the Hornets in the Class A playoffs at Due West.
John Robbins and Evan Sisk singled around a walk to Christian Cok to load the bases in the seventh. Sacrifice fly balls by Obbie Sarduy and Holden Reynolds got the two runs home.
Sisk pitched a complete game to run his record to 9-1 on the year. He struck out nine, and after allowing a run in the first, he settled down and gave up only one hit the rest of the way.
Lewisville tied the game at 1-1 in the second. Denver Moseley doubled to open the inning and later scored on an error.
The win improved the Lions to 23-6 on the year. They play an elimination game at Fox Creek at 7 p.m. Wednesday. Fox Creek beat the Lions 8-5 on Saturday.
Indian Land 12, Columbia 0: The Indian Land Warriors got goals from nine different players and routed the Columbia Capitals 12-0 in the first round of the Class AA soccer playoffs.
Shalyn Dougherty, Emma Gladu, and Katherne Kilroy led the scoring with two goals each.
Kilroy led the assist parade with two, while seven other players got one each.
Bella Maia was in the net for the Warriors. She recorded the shutout and had a pair of saves.
The win improved third-ranked Indian Land to 15-5 on the year. The Warriors will host Batesburg-Leesville in the second round at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday.
