Asa Watson, the former Rock Hill Bearcat and N.C. State Wolfpack tight end, was waived Monday by the New England Patriots after one preseason game. Watson, who signed with the Patriots as an undrafted free agent in May, was trying to make the team where his older brother, Benjamin, broke into the NFL 10 years ago. Watson played in the team’s Thursday night preseason opener but wasn’t targeted with a pass attempt.
Rock Hill football scrimmage moved to noon Tuesday
The Rock Hill Bearcats will still scrimmage Hough (N.C.) High School on Tuesday but the workout will be held at noon instead of 6 p.m. The location is still District Three Stadium.

Former Northwestern soccer player Alex Martinez was signed by Orange County Blues of the USL-PRO league late last week. USL-PRO is the division situated below MLS and NASL that includes the Charlotte Eagles.
