Indian Land drops to 1-1 after a 28-23 loss to Blacksburg.
The Wildcats took a 14-10 lead at intermission and held on to claim a win over the Warriors at Blacksburg.
Tyronne Nichols had a pair of touchdown runs in the first half for Blacksburg. His first was a 60-yard scamper which erased a 3-0 Indian Land lead. His second gave the Wildcats a 14-3 cushion.
Austin Gordon scored the Warriors touchdown in the first half. His score cut the deficit to 14-10.
Blacksburg scored a pair of touchdowns after halftime to take a 28-10 lead, but Logan Teeter’s 20-yard touchdown pass to Brandon Sellers cut the deficit to 28-17.
A late score by the Warriors made it 28-23, but that was as close as they could get.
The win improved Blacksburg to 2-1.
Great Falls led 13-10 at halftime, but Buford moved in front 16-13 in the third period. Great Falls added a pair of touchdowns in the final period to take a 27-16 lead, before Buford scored in the final minutes to account for the final score.
The win improved Great Falls to 3-0 on the year. It is the first time since the 2004 season that the Red Devils started the year with three straight wins.
Buford dropped to 0-2 with the loss.
Westwood scored in the second quarter to gain a 7-7 tie at halftime.
The Red Hawks scored 10 points in the second half to take a 17-7 lead, before Clover scored and made the two-point conversion to cut the deficit to 17-15.
The Blue Eagles tried an onside kick, but could not recover it, and Westwood ran out the clock.
The win improved Westwood to 3-0, while Clover fell to 0-3 with the loss.
Chesterfield improved to 2-1 with the win, while Lewisville dropped to 0-3 with the loss.
