The regular season for South Carolina's high school volleyball teams has ended, and the state playoffs begin on Monday.
Locally, five Class AAAA teams and one from Class A advanced to the postseason. The Class A playoffs begin on Monday. Teams in Class AAAA start Tuesday.
Clover, Fort Mill, Nation Ford, Northwestern and Rock Hill are among the 16 teams in Class AAAA's Upper State bracket, with 16 more teams competing for the Lower State title. The winner from each bracket plays for the state championship at 6:30 p.m. Nov. 7 at White Knoll.
Nation Ford, the Region 3-AAAA champ, is home on Tuesday against Spring Valley. The Lady Falcons are ranked fourth in the state. Rock Hill, No. 5 and the champ from Region 4-AAAA, hosts Clover.
In other matches involving area teams, Fort Mill hosts Ridge View and Northwestern travels to Blythewood.
Indian Land is the lone area qualifier in Class A and has a road game on Monday at Williston-Elko.
The girls state tennis playoffs begin on Tuesday for Class AAAA teams. In matches including Herald-area teams: Clover hosts the fourth-place team from Region 4; Nation Ford hosts the No. 3 team from Region 4; Fort Mill travels to play the No. 2 team from Region 4, and Northwestern is on the road against the Region 4 champion.
As of Saturday, the four qualifiers from Region 4 had not been announced.
The playoffs are single elimination. Check with the schools for match times.
