For a holiday weekend with a homecoming factor, you need an idea for live music with broad appeal. So how about this somewhat simple concept: cover the best classic rock and be true to the tunes, while you’re at it. That’s the overall aim for the band Sonic Rewind live Saturday at Beef ‘O’ Brady’s-Baxter in Fort Mill.
Whether it’s just some blast from the past fun or a vision to construct a formatted fusion of favorites, this five piece group from Fort Mill has straightforward goals. They’re out to play the best classic rock songs drawing from the 70s and 80s and do it well. They cite their song list runs from Aerosmith to ZZ Top with approximately 50 artists in between.
Along with range, comes that need for quality so the members of Sonic Rewind Ashley Addison Foster, Jeff Grieco, Bob Miller, Joe Millo, and Jim Walsh pledge they have the skills and talent to handle the challenge.
They collectively bring more than 120 years of combined musical experience. That certainly gives them an edge on their performance possibilities, especially when it’s revealed that four of the five profess vocal skills – all the better to focus on big harmonies.
Then, add two guitarists to whip out all those beloved, highly recognizable riffs and known chops, which are in turn kept in balance, of course, by drums and bass, as well.
Incidentally, their fan following called – what else but the ‘Rewinders” – lists the band’s 14 minute Led Zep medley among their favorities.
Get your deep track classic rock wish lists together then head out to challenge Sonic Rewind live Saturday to kickoff the outdoor gig season at Beef ‘O’ Brady’s, 940 Market St., Baxter Village in Fort Mill.
